Growing Up in the 80s: A Journey Through Art and Memories:

The art of my youth is a vivid tapestry, woven with memories from growing up in the 80s. My mornings began with a walk through the burnt-out buildings of the South Bronx, a daily trek to school that was as much a part of my education as the lessons inside the classroom. The streets were harsh, and I can still recall the chill of fear when I was robbed at gunpoint for my cheap coat.

Despite the grit and danger, there were moments of tenderness and discovery. My first kiss happened in a dingy hallway, a fleeting escape from the world outside. And always, I found solace in gazing out the window at the ever-changing trains, their graffiti-covered exteriors a testament to the creativity that thrived amid the decay.

The 80s were a time of cultural revolution, and I was fortunate to witness the birth of Hip Hop, New Wave, and House music. Graffiti was more than just vandalism; it was a vibrant, visual dialogue that reflected our lives and dreams. VHS tapes brought the magic of movies into our homes, and legendary clubs like the Limelight and the Tunnel became sanctuaries where we could lose ourselves in music and dance.

In those days, no one had cell phones, and the thrill of going out with friends was an adventure in itself. We were part of a generation that embraced new art forms and made them our own, shaping a culture that continues to influence the world today.
